hey everybody and welcome back to another episode of the Newbie and the Doobie my name is Timmy I am the Newbie
0:22
hi Jane I'm the Doobie who's missing her name today and we are here today uh very
0:28
excited to have on the show Spencer Hamilton and Rachel garudner oh Hamilton
0:34
that's right what's the background there Spencer to get that beautiful last name from Mother Russia
0:41
no no I'm definitely not we can run with it if you'd like I feel like Spencer's
0:47
seen the same movie we did this weekend oh we saw the machine this weekend have you guys seen the machine no oh that's
0:55
that new one with Bert or based on Bert kreischers yeah yeah how was it because
1:00
I've heard this story a lot of Russians and even the credits like Russians
1:06
everywhere it was it was a good movie I liked it it was good it was good and quite frankly we have never started an
1:12
episode with a horrible Russian accent so Spencer good for you you're welcome
1:18
yeah invoice is in the mail so uh love it Rachel would you like to do a bad uh
1:24
impression of something before we get going officially here oh my gosh well while we were at lift Toronto is really
1:30
working hard to try and combine the Canadian accent with the Australian accent so I had to change ER to uh so
1:39
any freeze or word that ended with ER so instead of grener I'd be grunna
1:46
um okay and instead of saying about it was a boot despite how Spencer strongly
1:52
disagrees that he says a boot the man says a boot so Spencer you're Canadian right I am
2:00
Canadian I'm a Western Canadian from Victoria British Columbia okay and Rachel just for the record yeah
2:07
Stateside uh Denver Colorado okay that's not a real place
2:13
you're right it's a glorious place it's heaven on Earth unfortunately we know more about you guys than you know about
2:19
us so uh so um for those who are tuning in right now
2:25
uh we had the privilege and the pleasure of meeting Rachel down at Lyft and we saw Spencer as well still waiting for
2:32
those scissors nice yeah I never got those scissors you know what
2:38
semantics they were meant to get to you I swear so we were uh we were down at uh lift
2:44
Toronto um lift 2023 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center yep and uh both Rachel
2:51
and Spencer are on the lift team there uh we're gonna talk about lift and all the things that happened and all the
2:56
things that are about to happen but uh we want to take this moment because we do on this show have a chance to talk
3:03
about people's stories I believe as a newbie and as a non-consuming Advocate that the stories of individuals and how
3:10
they've entered into the Cannabis space how they use and consume cannabis now or whether or not they even still do that's
3:16
important in breaking down the stigma and lift lift really has gone a long way in creating an event that and I
3:22
mentioned it at the event of allowing a place where the newbies can come in and
3:28
you walk in the doors and immediately a lot of the stigma of the Cloudy room the
3:33
um the dark and dingy environment has been broken by Lyft so help us break the
3:39
stigma today by um by telling your stories and allowing people to know that hey if everyone consuming it's not just
3:45
some incoherent person with no Drive uh all they do is smoke all day so that's a
3:52
fancy way of saying MJ just really wants to know about your origin story yeah I want to know about uh the first time
3:59
you consumed like okay obviously don't incriminate yourself you don't have to like let your parents know it was high
4:06
school when you did it if they have to watch this later but just like was it with friends was it
4:12
smoking out of a joint a bong did you have a a pipe or you know so I don't
4:18
know which one of you guys wants to take over yeah I would say ladies first just to be polite so I mean naturally almost
4:25
so Spencer go ahead jumping
4:43
I have a tough time really like isolating the the incident it was many moons ago and like he said
4:50
um you know for me it was with friends it was with friends and it was like out of
4:56
an apple or you know it was that swag weed you know that was probably just
5:02
awful at the time but you didn't know any better and that's all you knew right it was through a buddy's buddy whatever
5:07
it was right and then yeah like there was definitely those experiences through my younger years and then I'd say for a
5:14
bit it's sort of tapered off and it was maybe casual here and there but I'd say now for me it's I'm still very casual
5:21
and Timmy I'd say to relate to you I still feel like a newbie when I'm at these events because people are so
5:26
knowledgeable and there's so much to learn about it and you you know I I still consume like you know
5:32
semi-regularly like a little bit here and there but I find it fascinating the different sort of cannabino noise and
5:39
these different sort of reactions you can have so for me if I'm wanting to line down or I'm stressed out at the end
5:44
of the night and it's going to help me sleep or take my mind off things like I think that's really cool with where it is today as opposed to back in the day
5:51
so where where you are so my newbie origin story though was was one where
5:56
you know I wasn't even allowed to discuss it was it something though in your growing up like cannabis was still
6:02
you you knew about it it was hard to grow up on the west coast yes I'm on the
6:07
west coast so maybe that uh okay the answer is yes so the answer would be short-term yeah short answer yes but I
6:15
would say that it was definitely like prominent like it was around but it was it was very casual and like you say you
6:21
know out of like pipes or bongs or this or that but it was yeah I don't know it
6:26
wasn't anything too crazy but it was it wasn't like if you were smoking we that you were like some crazy criminal or
6:33
anything like that it was it was a little more common than that you know like you were at risk of getting suspended but you weren't at risk of
6:39
getting grounded because your parents knew what you were doing correct yeah you get a slap on the wrist every night exactly right you you throw on a couple
6:45
of Visine drops and you pretend like you're not really hungry when dinner comes up but you're really hungry
6:52
what what stop what because you just you implied right now and correct me if I'm wrong that it you're you would be
6:58
considered a casual consumer kind of for specific moments
7:03
um is is there a reason why you didn't become a kind of a full-blown first sake of the better word the
7:10
pothead um or or is that just something worth like you noticed that it was it was had
7:15
a specific reason for you and so you use it at those moments yeah I'd say I mean
7:20
casual just in Social settings um but I'd also say just growing up in like sports and Athletics and things
7:26
like that there's always a balance of like you know trying to say like for me at the time like way back when I was
7:31
like Fitness and then shape and your head screwed on tight which not to say that wouldn't
7:36
um different wouldn't make a huge impact on that today because we know so much more about it but you know for me it was
7:42
sort of a balancing act and then going to school and sort of just figuring it out so again it's always been casual but
7:48
it was just sort of maybe a little less for a certain period of my life whereas now I'd say it's you know again with all
7:54
these different the information and the knowledge are you going into a retail store and the what the bud tenders can
8:00
tell you and explain what's going to feel like or to maybe guide you in a different direction I think that
8:06
knowledge is so much different now so you feel so much more comfortable to say hey I can have this I'm gonna be fine I
8:11
can still go about my day or hang out or do whatever I'd like to do or hey some people have for even like before
8:17
exercise or workouts that helps them sort of focus in or sort of like take their mind off things so I think it's
8:22
just a much different uh World we're living in today than it was sort of 15 20 years ago that's funny we talk about
8:28
that a lot intention why people consume um and it seems like we also discussed
8:35
that not everybody should consume and sometimes people can't in you know use cannabis with intention and they just
8:41
kind of allow cannabis to use them I want to say rather than abusing cannabis because I
8:46
don't think I think it's really hard to abuse cannabis I mean maybe if you throw it on the floor she's seen me drop one
8:52
and she was like that's drug abuse what are you doing yeah
8:58
and she gets pretty upset well once once it touches the floor it's done you can't
9:04
smoke floor weed it's like no you can create art with it that's about the only
9:09
thing you can do with it at that point but I do want to say I like Spencer that you keep saying
9:14
um
9:20
it was the occasional consumer um rather than uh recreational because I
9:27
really think we need to we need to break down this recreational and medicinal user or medical user because anybody
9:35
who's using medicinally will look at anybody who says they're using recreationally and be like okay but why
9:41
are you using it and then through the discussion it's like okay but you do understand that those are all medical
9:48
reasons that you're using this even if it is just to relax right it's still
9:54
it's still some form of you know holistic healing so I'm kind of
9:59
like it's all it's all medical so I really like that you're using it in uh occasional occasional or usage or
10:06
occasionally using it absolutely yeah but it's certainly going
10:12
to be interesting to find out how then the occasional user enters into uh Lyft
10:18
a cannabis focused um organization but uh I think Rachel's
10:23
story yeah I'm I'm waiting Rachel's story now needs to be heard as well we said very briefly before the show
10:29
started that uh I said sometimes when people consume um they remember their
10:34
first time consuming and sometimes they remember the first time getting um any sort of effect because sometimes
10:41
they're not always the same and Rachel said oh it was definitely the same for me so I'm excited to hear it so where
10:47
did it again Rachel what happened take us back in the Day 2004 to the exact
10:55
um you were 32 when you started 32 did you just say Aldi think I am bro
11:03
there's no this isn't being recorded yet but I look great for my age let's just
11:08
point that out okay all right we'll we'll agree we'll agree to that Rachel
11:15
um so I actually was a goody two shoes um until the ripe age of 18 and went
11:24
away to college in my first night with my roommate she looked at me and asked if I wanted
11:30
to get high and I'm like well I've never smoked weed before um
11:36
yeah it was super intimidated by and she was like oh she's like well if you don't smoke with me tonight then this just
11:42
isn't gonna work so she knew a guy of a guy you know a friend of a friend buddy
11:49
ended up at uh I'm sure if she may remember the story
11:54
differently so if she ever sees this she may tell it differently but we ended up at a house and I just remember going up
12:00
into the attic of the house it was like a house party um so we did it's funny because when you
12:06
brought up like that dingy dark room experience um I was like it's so sad that people would have that Association but that
12:13
definitely was my first experience so we were in an attic at a house party on a
12:19
college campus and uh someone rolled a joint and we're passing it around and it was also the
12:26
same night I was introduced to Cartoon Network because naturally those two go hand in hand in America
12:33
um so got really blasted high watching Cartoon Network
12:39
um I don't know if it was it wasn't a bad experience it was just a unique experience I didn't know what to expect
12:46
I'm happy to say I didn't struggle with anxiety or anything like that it was just it was just weird I just had never
12:52
experienced anything like that before and then I became part of um my daily routine through my college
12:58
Years and slowly backed off as I got older definitely a social consumer
13:06
without a doubt wait hold on hold on are we still talking with cannabis or the Cartoon Network that you slowly
13:12
okay all right both just so we're clear both so uh
13:19
it's died down as you know I entered my professional ranks social consumer
13:24
without a doubt I found that if I consumed on my own and try to do anything like put together Furniture it
13:31
would be put together incorrectly so I cannot be trusted outside of a social setting with that uh don't rely on me
13:39
um but yeah and then I had I had a kid my tolerance dropped significantly so
13:45
I've been rebuilding since is that like a biological reaction that
13:51
your intolerance would drop or you stop smoking to both yeah so I I don't know the
13:57
science behind it but uh definitely a common theme around other mothers is
14:04
tolerance of everything your body your body changes drastically
14:09
after you've had a change I don't think that's across the board though because I've seen mothers when a
14:15
baby is screaming and they just standing there walking away blocking it right out so the intolerance level for that is like oh no that increases
14:23
that's built from the day the the moment the baby comes out yes we have selective hearing and we know we
14:32
can understand the language of cries without a doubt oh so that's I feel like that's a myth only very talented mothers
14:39
know that because I'll tell you that I'm like frig all you mothers that say that
14:45
because I spent years going what what why are you crying I changed you I fed
14:52
you I like I don't understand what is is going on so freak you Rachel I'll take
14:58
it that's fine it took a minute to figure it out for sure but sometimes sometimes sometimes early in the morning
15:04
when MJ's talking to me I'm like what what are you trying to say he says talking it's more whining
15:14
it is true though when when women go through um pregnancy because I don't know uh what your journey was with
15:21
pregnancy um I'm always sorry there's a bug there I'm always honest about uh about mine
15:27
and um I consumed the entire time I was pregnant uh with with doctor's approval
15:34
um the doctor actually told me it was more dangerous to consume cigarettes which I was doing at the time
15:41
um than cannabis and that there was no real evidence that showed one way or the
15:47
other um that it would harm the baby just that when the baby was born because the baby
15:53
would be used to the cannabinoid substance that when they came out that I might have some sort of issue like with
16:00
withdrawal symptoms or or whatever which yeah I personally I never
16:06
I never had an issue with with any of my kids you know my kids they're both very healthy and yeah I mean were they super
16:13
laid back and easy going yes they are um I will say my favorite my favorite story
16:20
about my kids so uh I quit smoking when my son was about five I quit smoking cigarettes and I
16:27
told him mommy's gonna quit smoking um and I never even considered that I was still gonna continue smoking
16:33
cannabis and that my child could then see me smoking that substance and get confused which is what happened and I
16:41
felt he was so just like he was like you said you were gonna quit and he was so mad at me and I was like
16:48
do I tell my child about cannabis and explain to him that I'm using it
16:54
medically and all this stuff and I was like you know what I would rather be honest with my child and explain to him
16:59
what's going on than to have him think that I've failed at something that I have not failed at yeah it is extremely
17:06
important so after I told him all that with his sister she was like just coming up so I
17:12
was like I might as well just tell her it was yeah it was a thing um but my my daughter was probably about
17:17
nine which means my son was uh 14. that's how it works right they always yeah every year you add one okay so
17:26
so they were a little bit like a mere American thing too yeah we do that in Canada at least
17:33
so so my daughter said to my son uh she said are you going to smoke cannabis
17:38
when you grow up and he looked at her and he thought about it for a second and he said yeah I think I will
17:45
um and she she looked at her looked at him very proudly and said not me I'm gonna eat it oh my gosh I love that and
17:53
I was like my kids are at least educated enough to know that there's more than one way to
17:59
use cannabis and and like that's a lot more than some some people we've come across some grown-ups Spencer I'm
18:05
interested to to know you were talking about your Fitness thing and and and I've been very open on this podcast that
18:11
you know Fitness to me like I track everything my sleep my exercise my my daily intake of food
18:18
um and it's one of the reasons why um I won't consume by smoking anymore I do not believe like that that's gonna help
18:25
me not so my question though is because you were talking about uh just as you were
18:30
growing up like like athletic fit those type of things right um we had uh Ross rebliotti um the
18:37
Canadian snowboarder right in the same area um he was on the podcast and of course
18:43
he was he is legendary for uh getting uh losing his medal because of uh cannabis
18:49
being found in his system at the Olympics years ago now right and my question into you as somebody who who is
18:57
casually consuming it did you ever find that cannabis could be a performance
19:03
enhancing drug no I've always when you see it now in professional sports across the board MBA
19:09
or football it's like they're peeling back very you know in terms of the punishments there there's like there's
19:15
no longer you're getting suspended for a year or x amount of time if you test positive for it because you know I don't
19:22
think it's enhancing your performance on the field or whatever sport you're you're doing but it could also help in
19:28
terms of the medicine in terms of like the aches the pains the sleeping right and because I think a lot of
19:33
professional athletes when they struggle with sleeping because they're all jacked up they're stressed out they're trying to perform at their Optimal Performance
19:40
is that you know then they do um like pills like to to go to sleep right or
19:46
and then you get addicted on those or pain pills and then that we've seen just over the years is definitely the wrong
19:51
Pathway to go down because it's you know it's very dangerous and there's a lot of bad stories there so you know I don't I
19:58
think it helps in the recovery standpoint but I don't think it's like a oh now I'm gonna go you know I mean it
20:04
may where it's probably different for every human being too for sure but like I don't think that's just going to help me play hockey better or help me play
20:10
this sport better or anything like that but I think what it can do is that if it's socially it can enhance it can make
20:16
more fun for sure but if it's you know if that's what you do for a profession then I think afterwards is how you
20:22
recover and sort of decompress I think is probably where the benefits lie so I
20:27
I've told people that in the four times that I smoked cannabis uh five years ago when I first met MJ three times three
20:33
times three times what four times joints that's why he says um the second one the second one was
20:39
during uh five pin bowling and I'm great I'm a great five pin bowling shout out uh to Spencer and our other fellow
20:46
Canadian um we uh it ruined my bowling score um and and that was when I ultimately
20:52
decided I can't do this like some things are not worth the risk so I did not find the performance enhancement which is
20:57
funny because we still Bowl and uh I I'm one of those people I'm
21:03
like cannabis and enhances everything because I use it intentionally to do so
21:10
so before we go to the bowling alley he goes in and gets the the lane set up and the shoes and I'm like yeah I'm gonna go
21:17
in and I'm gonna have great time and wait who won last time uh that's not important yeah that's not
21:23
it yeah we don't need we don't need to go there so I feel like it hit
21:29
and Spencer says it in here sure yeah which allows Me Maybe not be a
21:35
better bowler but I definitely have a better time now with with both you both of you will
21:40
have a very different perspective on the whole aspect of legalization and of course up here in Canada
21:45
um with with Lyft coming in I mean that a big part of you know them being able to be you guys being able to be here is
21:51
because of the legal Market opening up um Spencer you grew you grew up in uh in
21:56
Canada but in a community that although maybe even pre-legalization it was uh I mean the the West Coast has always been
22:03
seen as a you know maybe stereotypical everyone in Ontario people at least knew about you know people were smoking weed
22:10
out there right type of thing whereas um Rachel down in the states there's there's still large Pockets
22:17
um that are um got the walls up um some of them are starting to break down but you know there were also some
22:24
things I would I would imagine you know I always saw at a place like Denver um there was probably a uh a contingent
22:30
of cannabis users I don't know if that if that's just something we heard up here or what I thought to be true but
22:36
let's start with the American side and then come up to the Canadian side in terms of um
22:42
yeah after that um where so Rachel like legalization in
22:48
the states uh how are you feeling about it is this something that you've been
22:53
you know looking forward to has it all has it felt legal in where you are for a
22:59
long time and it just not officially or where how does that feel we're at uh were we at 23 States right now
23:08
so I'm not quite sure exactly yeah um but I would say I'm born and raised
23:14
in the Chicagoland area and I just moved out to Denver five years ago to enter in the industry and it being from the
23:23
Midwest didn't even know the perception the Midwest is still so vastly different
23:28
than what I'm experiencing being um closer to the West Coast for sure so
23:35
um in the Chicagoland area or Illinois at least where I lived it was a very
23:42
conservative part of um part of the country
23:48
um cannabis was very hush-hush I remember when recreationally it became
23:53
legal in Illinois and that was after I had moved here and people were throwing their arms up in the air because the a
24:00
dispensary was put in the same parking lot as a Costco and they thought they
24:05
were going to bring all the hood limbs up out to the suburbs so um very very different perspective there
24:12
very hush hush um I mean you bonded over people if you were at an evening event and you saw
24:19
someone like pull something out and share it it was an immediate like oh we're of the same tribe
24:26
um out west it's not like that at all at least here in Colorado [Music] um it was very strange moving out to
24:32
Colorado I felt so guilty walking into my first dispensary like I was doing something extremely naughty and now it's
24:39
like oh it's like like you're running to Walgreens or CVS or you know general or you watch Disney porn those type of
24:45
things I get it yeah but yeah no so it's a totally different
24:51
vibe region by region I'd say without without a doubt there's definitely
24:58
um you know the states where it's I mean California Colorado where is more
25:04
regular seen as like a norm um consumption use is it's not abnormal
25:11
to see it out and about but then like the seats that are newer newer to coming online recreationally
25:18
um it's still kind of ooh I don't know kind of uh naughty I guess you could say well in
25:25
Denver is Mile High right yeah nothing to do with the elevation that's
25:32
out of your mind it does have it must have something to do with West Coast though because like
25:38
you know you know in Canada like I said you know the West the east coast is very very like you know yeah
25:44
everyone's more laid back easy going something about that West Coast Spencer
25:51
up here in Canada I mean like I said I think you there you're the feel and Vibe
25:56
over in the west coast versus out here you know in Ontario and East
26:02
um long before legalization was happening there was already it felt like you know it was much more of an accepting Community would you say so
26:09
yeah I'd say so I think you know one thing that I've noticed in sort of
26:14
recent years is sort of like you know when I think about like parents or aunts and uncles who grew up in different
26:19
times and then obviously you know most of us have is that that stigma is like slowly been wearing off you know because
26:26
it is so much more accepted and there's a lot of health benefits and there's a bigger education I think for everyone
26:32
and it's no longer oh you smoke like you say you smoke weed like oh like get it together or whatever like I think that
26:38
is all sort of like slowly I mean of course there's still going to be some people that think like that but you
26:43
could you could say that for any sort of industry or whichever so I would say just especially out west is that you
26:51
know sort of that those different Generations are very accepting too and it's no longer this big thing or this
26:56
big ordeal or something you need to sneak away and hide because it's a little bit more commonly accepted you
27:01
know across all sort of generations so it's interesting because when I think
27:06
West Coast I think Surfers I think bucket hats by a nice hats by the way uh
27:13
we had to wrap it yeah so yeah what's what's the Hat yeah talk to it tell us briefly about these hats these are our
27:20
friendship hats we've determined or I just determined on the flying Spencer there's no going back oh we got we got
27:27
them at a uh it was called the bud bash I think Rachel if I'm not mistaken it was at the
27:34
point there which was right down the road from the Metro Convention Center and so you know there's a bunch of
27:40
activations and some swag being given out and so this was after our uh lift business
27:45
conference so you can imagine Rachel and I were you know dressed up a little nicer we're trying to sort of fit the
27:51
fit the bill and fit in a little bit and be professional not that there's nothing wrong with this look and it's it's
27:57
certainly professional but absolutely yeah we had one we had one photo where we're in front of a backdrop looking
28:02
like all gussied up and then like an hour not even an hour later we're in our we're doing one of these we're doing one
28:08
of those [ __ ] hats so you know we're diverse um
28:14
I think I think the best part is that we continue to wear these hats for the
28:19
remainder of the evening ended up being um pulled into
28:25
a an incredible Mexican restaurant during their soft launch it's called special uh or no uh secret age
28:33
Silent Age uh where where was it located
28:39
I want to say King Street West yeah I seen the sign and I actually thought it
28:45
was called silence or cylinder because it's silent and then an H yeah the
28:51
bottom yeah it was Silent Age so we this beautiful Mexican woman like saw us
28:57
pause in front because the entryway was just absolutely gorgeous and she was like come in come in my brother's the
29:04
chef uh the food's amazing I'm not just seeing it because it's my brothers were like ah [ __ ] it we'll go in for a drink
29:11
and then we ended up staying for a full meal it was Wiz IT I have a video
29:17
footage of Spencer taking a tequila luge with a phone after you're concerned with
29:24
a bone marrow thing so that was yeah Rachel if you can if you can send that over we'll spice it into this interview that would be great
29:30
absolutely you're okay with that right Spencer well I mean uh what I wasn't okay with was the first uh shot that you
29:37
poured down my knee you know that you came out of the gates a little hot there I'm not gonna lie to
29:43
you but we did I was so excited we'll definitely send over footage but
29:49
it's an incredible restaurant and it the funniest part about it is uh Chef Jordan Wagman who we partner with on our events
29:56
and he brings like the whole Diners Club together for it we were texting him about how amazing the food and the
30:02
cocktails were and he um knew the owner so uh we were like okay well we gotta
30:08
hunt down the owner of course like I called him over the man had no idea who I was but he's been hesitant to approach
30:15
us weirdos in our bucket hats couple cocktails in uh but yeah great
30:21
restaurant great experience great memories tied to these bucket hats for sure
30:28
so you're shout out to the Creator or who brought them there you go it sounds like you guys
30:36
kind of became those hoodlums Rachel that you were you were saying where people were worried we're going to come in because of cannabis right absolutely
30:43
it's funny because Spencer said uh we were all dressed nice trying to like look like we belong and it's it's funny
30:50
because that's the number one thing that cannabis consumers say is like they they
30:55
made cannabis legal and now we're all trying to get into this business and
31:01
some of us don't even feel like you can ask Timmy I have this problem all the time because I have pink hair I want to
31:08
fit in in the business world too I'm turning 40 this year but I also have to understand that
31:14
some I don't think I belong in a scene we belong in Care Bear onesies
31:20
this is just me and it's funny because like no matter what you put us in on the
31:25
outside believe me Spencer there's a bunch of people there in suits that feel the exact same way they're just trying
31:30
to fit in and and they're just like I kind of want to have an expo where
31:36
it's like PJs I feel like we're in this transitional phase of the industry no
31:42
matter where you're at I was we were talking about this on site where um like as cannabis especially in the US
31:49
in Canada as it began to legalize or was this whole
31:54
concept of like we've got to keep it professional we have to like let the mainstream World know that it can be
32:01
treated so professionally so we put on you know this Persona and then we went
32:06
through this grunge period of you know everything that coveted just oh swept
32:12
away and even everyone's personal lives like this like caring too much about things you shouldn't care about and now
32:19
we're in that phase of Life of as a cannabis industry of we just have to be real and honor the reality of the
32:25
culture the people involved in it because that's what that's what the roots are so I think it's just an
32:31
interesting uh period where we're at we're definitely in that coming of age phase in the Cannabis life span for sure
32:39
yeah I like that Rachel said that you have to kind of bring in the Legacy into
32:45
yeah because it is a little stuffy or was at least a little stuffy I mean like
32:52
I I know Lyft especially you guys brought it yeah definitely brought the fun
32:58
um with the play area and oh my God the speaker's corners and the Diners Club and like there were so many cool things
33:04
there this year well I think I think people tend to uh misalign
33:11
professionalism with um that out that outward look like so we
33:17
show we're you know and MJS does struggle with it we showed up you know in Care Bear onesies and the last couple
33:24
years at Lyft we've been outside and a unicorn onesies even on business avocado and Peach we seriously have to wear
33:30
onesies on Business Daily he should be dressing in business no we and we shouldn't and that that's where
33:36
people it's a bottle it really is they but they missed they miss they misaligned the two
33:42
and it's like you there are people who are dressings in suits that are
33:47
incredibly unprofessional human beings and yeah what what we want to bring to
33:54
the table and even the fact that you guys look you guys are representing Lyft on this podcast you're you're free
34:00
enough though to come in with bucket hats and some people would go not a chance we're gonna do that we can't
34:06
laugh and have fun and be wearing bucket we're representing you know this corporate company this corporate label
34:11
and I'm about someone who said when I'm on stage and I strip down from a uh a
34:19
full suit to a spring dress when I'm doing my sunny and share thing you guys will have to see that one day I mean I I
34:25
was a fan of the short shorts I must say well interesting you are you are very
34:30
welcome the blue ones that I have uh are even better they're actually my sons when he was 10. I still got good hips
34:37
and small legs but anyway the point is is that some people would
34:42
look at that and go oh my goodness like look at this guy up here in this spring dress on the stage so unprofessional is
34:48
it no my job is to i i is when I come off stage and you're talking to me and
34:54
I'm dealing with clients and I'm dealing with those interactions is what makes me professional
35:00
I'm supposed to be on stage being fun and lighthearted and doing stuff like that you know so when we wear onesies
35:07
you know to to something like lift when someone comes up to us and has that
35:12
conversation and asks me so so why are you an advocate I can I can communicate
35:17
that and stand in a onesie but with with straight face walk through and explain
35:23
this stuff in a very professional coherent Manner and that that the professionalism is actually beyond that
35:29
and too many people walk around thinking they gotta have the tie done right up and that's going to be professional and
35:35
I think that's completely bad yeah I mean let's be real the idea of professional changed after a pandemic
35:42
when everyone is working an entirely different environments and I think the reality is that vulnerability is key you
35:49
know yeah people need to just start being being real um so let's so let's talk about Lyft
35:55
here I mean obviously you guys had a great time in Toronto enjoying the you know the restaurant and your time and
36:01
the the conference was fantastic and and you know as much as we could share our experiences we want to kind of hear
36:08
um your experience and to tell people who weren't there kind of why what was Lyft doing in Toronto what was how
36:15
what's happening there and and what your perception was of uh of this year's lift
36:20
conference so whoever would like to start actually let's do this what are your what are both your roles let me hear those first like where what are
36:27
your roles in this thing and then one of you can take over I remember Spencer's it's like a really really long title
36:32
it's like financial analyst of something um well I mean maybe ask yourself what
36:37
don't I do because there's the you know the list is just like it's like going to the grocery store there's just a lot
36:44
it didn't bring me scissors it didn't bring me gas well you brought Rachel
36:50
really late yeah there were a lot of things the problem or a Rachel problem I
36:55
mean just ask yourself that yeah I'm just kidding Rachel you
37:00
the four is yours young lady so so Spencer you're so you kind of you're overseeing a whole lot of different
37:07
stuff like I would okay so my my official title is a senior account
37:12
executive so I'm working with you know a lot of the exhibitors um any and some of these shoes are I'm a
37:19
schmoozer I suppose you could say but at the end of the day you know my role is to help facilitate and coordinate that
37:25
sort of event experience for any of our exhibitors anything related to that so you know I think the good thing about
37:31
our team is you know we're we're not like an overly huge team or we can be very Dynamic and collaborative so I
37:39
don't think anyone's really in their sort of like like pigeonhole into one specific category so if you have ideas
37:45
or thoughts or we're looking to be creative or you're looking to understand something a little bit more I think our
37:51
team is very open and welcome to those types of discussions which sort of help sort of shift things or adjust things or
37:57
pivot with things so you know I think primarily my role was to you know cruise around make sure that if the exhibitors
38:03
required anything or that they're set up if they had any questions that they had someone there on site to support them
38:09
because there's a lot of lead up work that goes into it but then once you're on site then you know things kind of change and you sort of you know adapt
38:16
and uh roll with uh how everything unfolds nice Rachel what do you do yeah
38:22
so uh official title is uh director of sales but
38:27
um the reality is is I'm right in the trenches with Spencer and our other teammates Mitch Lisa Jordan we we really
38:36
work cohesively as a team speaking of Care Bears we all have our individual
38:43
Powers we bring to the table um each super you're unique so
38:49
um I don't I go my ultimate role is you know first and foremost to make sure my
38:55
team is happy that they're finding that work-life balance because I truly believe that work and life it's so
39:03
integrated there's truly no real way to separate it if something's happening in one it's going to impact the other so
39:09
holding space for that and really just offering as much support as I can for um Spencer and the team just just really
39:16
kick ass and and if Spencer you do wear multiple hats you're a great salesperson
39:21
but customer service is there feedback is there you're part of you know
39:27
navigating the ship moving forward so we've only seen one hat today from
39:32
Spencer although it's a sweet hat it is normally
39:37
Lisa's the one with all the time yeah Lisa usually is all the house oh Lisa Patty yeah no we gotta enter a hat
39:43
competition with her yeah no no don't do that you'll lose she's a killer wait if
39:48
you're doing it I want to be involved okay we should we'll have we'll have an official podcast I like it so talk to us
39:55
about um and and you guys can split it up or or just piggyback off each other what
40:00
tell people what is lift what's your what is what is the purpose behind it and and how did you feel this one went
40:07
Toronto no this is just one event of yours yeah so overall what is lift and
40:12
and then talk to us about your experience at the Toronto one this year yeah um well I'll go ahead and start so
40:18
overall Lyft is um an event producer who's dedicated to truly lifting the can
40:24
cannabis community so there's a we all know there's an array of traches
40:30
conferences in this space um what Lyft is intending to do is
40:37
really create that more intimate Canna culture-focused experience where people
40:42
do walk on the show for and they feel like they could just be themselves in the element of who they are we're
40:48
honoring the Legacy um and bringing that forth so if you ever have any feedback on how we can do
40:55
that further do share but still keeping and holding space for a business to get done for people to walk away with an Roi
41:03
um but yeah I think the biggest key is intimacy can a culture Focus we have three events
41:10
um in production we have our Toronto show we just completed San Francisco in
41:16
early August and then Vancouver in mid-January so um lots to come and then I felt like the
41:22
Toronto show it went really well I mean there's definitely a decline in
41:28
um The Presence on the show floor it's been like that since post pandemic I
41:33
think I don't think I know all conferences I don't care who they are struggling with that
41:39
um it's just the reality money's tight right now and I think that we did the absolute best we could to work with
41:46
folks um to have them present as attendees or exhibitors partnered with the OCS who put on a phenomenal program
41:54
to help get folks the ability to earn a way to the show floor really honoring
41:59
Bud tender so it was it hit the mark for what we were shooting for
42:05
um most importantly we just want people to walk away with a really great experience and the feedback we received
42:13
was it was really really positive feedback even the constructive feedback
42:19
was just incredible opportunities and discussions for enhancing the future event
42:24
nice Spencer what were your thoughts yeah maybe just uh to piggyback on
42:29
Rachel's comments there you know I you know part of you know those couple days there was really trying to stop by each
42:35
booth and and sort of engage with the exhibitors and understand how how it's going and and building off Rachel's
42:41
sentiments there there was a lot of positivity there's a lot of Engagement and I think you know that's sort of the
42:47
platform that Lyft is is providing that opportunity to do business to create a network to engage with either consumers
42:54
or Bud tenders or people from different parts of the industry and so having made
43:00
my way around you know every Booth I I thought hey there's a lot of times we're trying to get to a booth and there's
43:06
just so many people there that I thought you know that they need to do what they're doing there those are people
43:12
they want to talk to I'll Circle back so I thought that was really cool because it wasn't like I could just show up at every boot any booth at any point in
43:18
time and have a discussion they're busy I would just make a note of it and come back at a later date but having spoke
43:24
into a lot of those exhibitors and people working the booth is that they're like yes has been great this has been
43:30
fun and hey we know maybe in Prior years there was you know additional booths but
43:35
in a lot of ways that almost highlighted those that were there and a lot more traffic to those people that did get a
43:43
booth and exhibit at this event because you know if you don't have as much competition you know that's sort of one
43:48
way to look at it is that there's a little bit more of a attraction to come and spend a little bit more time and and
43:53
have that quality time uh interacting and engaging with those people so that was my first experience from uh lift
44:01
standpoint and I thought it was really positive and and like Rachel said the majority if not all feedback was was
44:07
quite positive of course there's always things you can look back and say hey well maybe we can try this next time or we can shift or maybe we should think
44:15
about putting this here or putting that there like I think we we know that there's always ways to enhance that
44:20
event experience for everyone involved but generally speaking I mean I had a great time and everyone I spoke to
44:26
seemed to have one as well well I know uh we we didn't get out much from our booth on we don't get it right
44:34
in general that's totally not true but on the Saturday I have my roller
44:41
skates on so I I had a lot more freedom and I was going around the floor and uh I don't know if it was the roller skates
44:47
that was making everybody smile which I doubted but everybody was it looked like everybody was having a great time
44:54
um like you said Spencer I had to like fight my way to the front of the line over at Mills to get myself they were
45:03
customized uh a customers from New Jersey tell the story about that did you
45:08
did you notice though that she said that she didn't wait in line that we don't we don't wait in Lines Just so you guys
45:14
know we just go I just like elbows you know who we are
45:19
what's funny is um I just want to shout out to the people over at Mills who uh
45:25
even though they had they were so busy they ran they ran out of letters they
45:31
they the guy that they had hired was super awesome um they worked overtime to make sure
45:37
that we got our customized um things so I just want to say special shout out
45:42
good on them for the jerseys good on them for hiring that guy so yeah that's great
45:47
we're probably just as good but we were so busy I really only seen two the whole
45:53
time we were there yeah yeah and they were a platinum sponsor of ours so shout out to them for
45:58
that and supporting the industry and helping this us put on this event for sure yes now I'm excited are we are we
46:06
at San Francisco yet I'm like I want to hear yeah we are we I we do want to talk we do want to talk about San Francisco
46:12
which is coming up but I if I just want to know if you guys have have had any
46:17
feedback in regards to um the non-consuming versus consuming
46:24
crowd because um I've I've mentioned to you guys before I mentioned it down a lift um I
46:30
really do believe that Lyft has done a phenomenal job of of creating a space that the new Beast can come into and go
46:37
what is happening brought some newbies too we had we had some newbies at our table um helping us but I was also really
46:44
surprised at how many people came to our booth and as I told them my story they
46:50
were like I'm not a consumer either and but their partner is they're but the part and it was really surprising
46:56
because the first couple years when we were outside we were usually only interacting with consumers because
47:02
outside was where everybody went for their smoke breaks yeah by inside I got a completely different
47:07
story and I didn't I don't know if from from the organizer level if you have any
47:13
idea how much you had impacted the the Newbie inquiring Community versus the
47:18
Cannabis community yeah so that's something that we've talked at length at with um our our
47:25
Consulting Partners about really honoring the Curious
47:30
um and not creating an uncomfortable experience for them so the fact that
47:36
there was that presence makes me very very happy because this should not be an
47:41
intimidating experience it's definitely a one love vibe that we're trying to
47:47
express to people and a judgment-free Vive as well so um now I can't say that we made any
47:53
significant decisions to draw that audience it was just something we are very very conscious of supporting
48:01
um so I'm happy to hear that I'm thrilled to hear that and I hope that we can do more to support that crowd
48:07
well I definitely think like you said even though it wasn't something you sought to do it all starts with building
48:14
that base of the environment and through both things that you guys are saying your you guys are creating an environment that
48:21
um that Fosters that breaking down of the stigma Fosters an environment to have the conversation and raises the bar
48:27
which is the three things that we really have tried to build our podcast on yeah
48:32
um so which is why we really you know we appreciate lift and we were excited to
48:37
be in Toronto we had a we had a great time there and uh we would encourage anybody to to check out Lyft both in
48:45
Toronto hopefully next year and then the ones that are coming up now but San Fran is right around the corner
48:51
and uh let's let's talk a little bit about that I I believe there's something there was a few things I think Lisa
48:57
Petty was telling us there's some new things happening down there that wasn't necessarily in Toronto so uh for those
49:04
United States listeners or maybe just the Canadian
49:13
what's happening in San Fran when is it what's what's new what's exciting yeah
49:18
well do you want me to go first Spencer or would you yeah you go ahead yeah you keep it hot Rachel you're doing such a good job over there thank you it is kind
49:25
of warm over here I'm not gonna lie just you know Canadians are a little passive aggressive and wreck I recognize
49:31
that I saw it oh yeah they're fake nice no no I do want to say
49:39
with regards to maybe the Casual consumers you know like some of those conversations or the non-consumers that
49:45
we do have a wonderful marketing team too that they have a ton of marketing initiatives too and like obviously
49:51
return on I know a lot of what's going on is but they're they're doing a Around the Clock job in order to get our brand
49:59
and the event details out there so when you talk about some of that audience attending that's it's likely attributed
50:05
to some of the marketing efforts from Lisa Petty and Mary and some of our other teammates some just wanted to
50:10
shout them out for sure yeah and really quick for anyone listening that really wants to stay on top of it be sure to
50:17
follow our Instagram handle down in the ticker below so thanks for including that
50:22
um yes San Francisco it's gonna be I mean it's in California California alone
50:27
is going to bring a different vibe but San Francisco has another vibe element to it that it's
50:34
going to bring it's going to be in the Moscone Center so beautiful location very safe and clean location for those
50:41
concerned about uh being in San Francisco but the biggest things we'll still have
50:47
our LCBC concept we are going to have an investment side or partnering with Arc
50:53
view so excited to be rolling that out on site um and then in addition to that we will
51:01
we are launching a new event called taste at left so we're partnering with Chef Jordan Wagman for this event and
51:09
the entire day is going to be focused on um infused products so content around it
51:15
sampling there's going to be kind of like an iron chef competition happening
51:21
where we'll actually be integrating products the coolest thing about having
51:26
it in San Francisco is that product is allowed on the show for samplings
51:32
allowed we'll have a little pop-up retail store so totally totally
51:37
different vibe and then we'll ramp up the event at the Fillmore for our after
51:43
party which anyone that's into music especially in the US should know the
51:49
film or if not look it up you'll see the greatest musicians of all time have performed there
51:55
because if you live in Toronto yeah Phil Moore's is a classic strip club in Toronto
52:01
oh my gosh all all the best true story so we couldn't help but chuckle the
52:07
whole time when you're talking about hilarious okay no strippers but definitely some incredible uh performers
52:16
dancing it will be it'll be a good dancers yeah great great choice of words
52:22
but yeah we're really kind of upticking the content to really dive into that investing side and then the uh
52:29
consumption side adjustables we really just want to kind
52:35
of Drive some more information and education around that and hopefully
52:40
bring kind of tie that investment piece into that infused products piece as well
52:46
nice Spencer you ain't you excited about heading down south yes you know I I
52:52
think it's going to be a really cool venue and I think in a lot of ways like Rachel touched on is there's a few
52:57
unique uh aspects to this event too and so having seen just like almost like a tease of what Chef Jordan wagon was able
53:04
to do at the Diners Club here just on these last few days at the lift event it
53:10
was really cool really unique and a totally for me like something that's so new and
53:15
like learning it and seeing all these things and there's such passion and dedication and everything behind it
53:21
that's gonna be so cool and then just like you know the ability to have some product and certain things on the show floor I think it's just really different
53:28
smelling looking understanding like you know that's unfortunate with some of these rules and regulations in Canada
53:34
that we cannot do um so you know I think from a brand perspective it's great that everyone
53:39
wants to show off their shiny new toy if you will and so it kind of brings in a different sort of audience as well so
53:45
and it's it's what August 2nd the 4th in San Francisco it's a pretty cool time to
53:52
be in a pretty cool City so we're looking forward to it yeah and then the farther one down the road is Vancouver
53:58
when is that January yes and I think it's 11th of 13th if I'm remembering correctly so
54:05
um building off of actually that was one part of that I really took away from this last event here in Toronto is that
54:12
you know as we talked to some of the exhibitors and people what are up what's ahead for us San Francisco and then
54:18
obviously wanting to start plant that seed if you will for Vancouver for those that actually did experience Vancouver
54:24
last year or just had resounding positive feedback that was like yeah I can't wait you know what if I can put myself on the show floor now let's do it
54:31
and so that was part of what Rachel and I were doing so there was just a like the feedback was really really
54:36
encouraging from this past year in Vancouver so we're already tracking
54:42
really well for a show that's you know six seven months away so I just thought that was really neat that people were
54:47
really still had that fresh in their memory and we're already looking forward to the next opportunity so I know we've
54:53
been doing this for a while but the Vancouver uh market and audience was certainly really excited about it
54:58
yeah and I was actually surprised at how many people we spoke with in toront o where they are based out of we're
55:07
ready to be in both San Francisco and Vancouver so so it will still have that
55:13
Global presence it's not unique to the US and uh I think it's going to be a
55:18
unique event in the industry overall it's not going to be the traditional trade show so we'll kind of play with it
55:25
a little bit well that doesn't surprise me that you say that a lot of the people there were like yeah sign me up for San
55:32
Fran and Vancouver because yeah Timmy when I was left or what as soon as we like got in the car to go home I was
55:38
like are we going to lift in San Francisco like are we going man well I
55:44
guess absolutely the question the question is are you guys going to have uh like a furry segment of like for the
55:51
first income no offense to those that enjoy furries
55:57
but no that will not be part of our show a cartoon Corner we're about we're about
56:03
to close it up here just uh one Rachel can you say Toronto again Toronto no I want I wanted you want me
56:10
to say it the wrong way because I've Been Told I've been corrected that
56:16
wasn't her what do you mean that wasn't her that is her that's her on the bottom right there I mean who said it over the
56:22
weekend I know but I've been hearing her say it over and over again and I think you changed it multiple times she made fun of the way Spencer says
56:29
a-b-o-u-t but she's the one that actually says it funny about
56:35
[Laughter]
56:42
can you say Toronto Toronto and then Rachel Toronto
56:48
okay I think a couple times the only reason I brought it up is because a couple times you said Toronto no I've
56:54
been trying to watch that I got called out on that last week I'm just saying I heard it I understand I heard it you
56:59
probably did see I'm working on it I'm telling you now I have to add that to my account Canadian accent Aussie accent
57:07
don't change it Toronto on that too so San Francisco I found out
57:13
when I was down in San Francisco or SF you don't refer to it as San Fran
57:18
because then people know that you are not from around there oh I did that I really called right the F out that
57:25
they're like San Fran like I was like damn man I was trying to fit in and be cool but now now I'm not right
57:31
yeah yeah okay or the Bay Area referred to as the Bay Area is kind of the safe safe net but I I felt like people would
57:38
say San Fran but if you're from around there you certainly do not so that's a pro tip for everyone else yeah I guess that's the research you guys got to do
57:44
it heading into a new place every time it's not easy no I believe you I grew up
57:50
in Scarborough and I don't know if you know anything about Scarborough but it's it's a little hamlet in Toronto but like
57:56
they have every ethnicity ever so it doesn't matter where I am I always seem
58:01
out of place because I go from accent to Accent to Accent depending on who I'm
58:06
talking to that's kind of cool though I'm like
58:11
Ontario it see it seems fun Rachel until you have to listen to it
58:18
just becomes a mind amazing to say it's only it's only bad when um I'm
58:24
speaking like I used to work with a lot of Polish ladies and they were the sweetest ladies ever for some reason my
58:30
boss would always make me go talk to them and as they're explaining something to me now all of a sudden I'm explaining
58:36
it to them in a English Polish accent that's hilarious and I'm like I don't
58:43
even realize I'm doing it I love it
58:49
um what what do what do either of you want to leave uh in terms of speaking to
58:55
whoever's listening now or preferably watching or else they're going to miss not only your hats but our incredible
59:00
good looks but the the question is what what do you want to leave with those
59:06
people about Lyft each one of you kind of share why they should come to the next one regardless of where it is
59:14
you're better with being sentimental Spencer so you go first well that's a tough tough one to say but I
59:21
would say that you know I think we really try to you know make it like a a great and
59:28
comfortable experience for all that are involved so anyone whether you're exhibitor attendee your speaker whichever is that we want it to be a fun
59:34
and cool environment we want people to sort of create a network and do business and meet people and you know I think
59:41
speak like from my very first experience in this industry which I'm not a seasoned Veteran by any
59:47
um Imagination is that last year I was here with a different company at this Toronto show first ever cannabis event
59:52
and just through meeting some people shaking hands meeting people I developed a bit of a network and then fast forward
59:58
to a few networking events and then the Vancouver show I had then now met all of
1:00:04
the Lyft event organizers and created some relationships continually ran into them to the point where then I found
1:00:10
myself having a job so not only they create an OP a professional opportunity there but for my other job at the time
1:00:16
it also helped me get some business done you know a lot of it we just talked about everything's done through your
1:00:21
computer it's remote you don't really get to see people and and have those like very normal and candid
1:00:28
conversations to really build those relationships so you know having these events where you look forward to it to
1:00:34
see some familiar faces and to build upon some of those relationships I think is really cool and something that I in
1:00:40
the last year you know I now I can look around and say hi to a bunch of different people whereas before I walked
1:00:45
in like a year ago today and I didn't know basically anyone I knew a few people but it was through these events
1:00:52
that I had the opportunity to sort of get familiar with people in the industry learn a ton like we have amazing
1:00:57
speakers amazing content as well so I feel like every every day I'm learning so much from any conversation or any
1:01:04
panel or presentation or speakers a corner or whatever so you know I think
1:01:09
it's fun first and foremost I think that's what it's meant to do but I think there's a lot that can be done from a professional standpoint personally or
1:01:16
for the company that you're working for no I think it's always interesting when uh the leadership the management team
1:01:24
whatever it may be also expresses the openness and the willingness and the
1:01:30
need to learn and you know to have somebody who's who's talking about the event as a face of the event
1:01:37
um to sit there and say I am learning so much uh that's that says a whole lot as well because it's it's you know
1:01:43
everything flows from leadership down and if the leaders are are wanting to learn and feel a need to learn that's
1:01:49
going to create an event that Fosters learning as well so that's very cool to hear and we're all about the education
1:01:55
so yeah absolutely yeah and I've I've been in the industry on the event side
1:02:03
of the industry for five years now been attending events in that time period I
1:02:09
would say that lift this most recent event was the first time that I walked away having
1:02:14
really solid professional relationships and and friendships
1:02:21
um I just can't recall any situation in which I got to interact with attendees
1:02:27
and exhibitors at that level Where I Leave feeling totally connected and hopefully having a lifelong friend from
1:02:33
it that will enhance both of our professional experiences I know Spencer
1:02:38
hit it on the head the networking opportunities are key one thing I've definitely found in this industry is
1:02:45
that once you're in it you only leave it if you consciously choose to leave it otherwise there's so many opportunities
1:02:51
for relationship building that you can forever stay in the industry just with the networking that you have done but I
1:03:00
think the biggest takeaway I want people to walk away with and I hope that they
1:03:05
experience this on site in conversations they had with Spencer and I is we're
1:03:11
totally open to the feedback you know don't be afraid to give us constructive feedback we want this event is being
1:03:18
created for you for the industry not not for us um so let us know what you need in order
1:03:26
for you to feel like it was a success and give us that opportunity to do what
1:03:32
we have to do to provide that that's awesome um can I just say something just to
1:03:38
touch on what you guys were talking about um so especially with the networking and like networking is huge huge not just
1:03:46
for personal but for the building of the business relationship and probably from LPS because we have friends in the LPS
1:03:53
uh all the way to like people who just do videos at home of their grows to show
1:03:58
people their plants because they just really love their cannabis plants and educating others it really doesn't matter where you are
1:04:06
if you have a love of cannabis there is somebody there for you and like
1:04:12
like Dee the bud guy we had him on um our podcast uh Watson to green bean
1:04:19
he came and he always comes every year and gets a photo and like to see their photos and their what they're the most
1:04:25
excited about is not all the swag and the whatever that they picked up because that's super cool too but it was the
1:04:32
friends and the connections that they had made online over the last however long it had been and they finally got to
1:04:38
go meet them at least business but it's fun so I just I really want to thank
1:04:44
Lyft especially just because you guys did so such a really good job of bringing the fun to to the business
1:04:51
event side of it so yeah thank you where uh let's where can everybody find all
1:04:57
this information yeah so um our website is we're actually
1:05:02
going to be transitioning websites here pretty shortly but hopefully that will be well publicized
1:05:11
um but not present I want to say expo.ca is is sort of our main domain and then
1:05:17
you can switch anything over yeah oh I think
1:05:23
did we lose wow we broke up for a second I hope I didn't do that what we're
1:05:29
breaking we're breaking up over calls for just a quick second but um so Lyft Expo lift Expo dot CA
1:05:39
you'll find everything on there it's we do have another landing page but I would say go to lyftexpo.ca Lisa is going to
1:05:47
kill me for saying that but everything's right there and then um and then yeah don't don't be surprised if you get
1:05:53
redirected somewhere else sooner sooner than later because we are updating our website
1:05:59
yeah bigger and better thing and Instagram is at lift lift and Co correct yep that's correct yeah beautiful so
1:06:07
everybody needs to go check all that out um we want to thank you guys like like uh it was just it was so nice to have
1:06:14
had a chance to to meet you guys and to interact face to face before even having
1:06:20
this one we had talked about having the interview prior to Lyft um but this made it this made it so much
1:06:25
so much better and we really appreciated uh the way you had treated us
1:06:31
um and those interactions and we're excited that you were able to come on here in any way that we can help uh spread the word about Lyft uh is is
1:06:38
something we're very much behind so um thank you connected you guys are
1:06:43
awesome too by the way yes it was very fun meeting you two in person and giving us an opportunity to
1:06:50
shoot the breeze as they say today the cool kids are saying at least I I
1:06:55
think they are anyways yeah not anymore to stay in with the income
1:07:01
I'm trying you know I may look younger than I am but I'm really trying I feel like that's a young thing because when
1:07:07
you hit a certain age you just don't give up yeah you just stop trying can we just take a moment to acknowledge
1:07:13
that Spencer totally has that goofy dad Vibe with like the bucket hat
1:07:27
all right look that's not necessarily A Bad Thing Spencer yeah it's a great thing you know what we'll take it it's
1:07:34
gonna be a lot worse that could be said about me uh we want everybody also to know that
1:07:40
uh Fillmore's here in Toronto is closing if you want a chance to stay in the hotel at the strip club uh you got to do
1:07:46
that now so you guys should have considered that and that is something important I know Spencer's like no yeah
1:07:53
since her right I'm already I'm still in Toronto I didn't want to leave because I was going to go but
1:07:58
it sucks oh yeah no it's it's true it's it's been a legendary location we wanted to go just to stay in one of the hotels
1:08:04
above the uh the hotel rooms above I heard they still charge by the hour yeah so oh my goodness yeah so we're only
1:08:11
gonna book two um
1:08:17
we're off the rails we're completely off the rails I can't afford a whole evening anyways
1:08:23
uh thank you guys we know we know we know you're busy you've given us a lot of time here during the afternoon here
1:08:29
and uh thanks again we hope you'll be in touch and uh hopefully see you guys in person uh going forward so ladies and
1:08:35
gentlemen Rachel and Spencer from Lyft check out Lyft what's happening uh in San Francisco
1:08:42
I'm gonna say it go to San Fran and in Vancouver and then back in Toronto
1:08:48
hopefully next year uh Rachel Spencer thanks so much thank you thank you very much
